The Air Peace launch on the London to Lagos route was one of those moments that genuinely shook up a previously comfortable duopoly.

My honest take on the three: for a single person travelling with hand luggage or one hold bag, Air Peace’s value case is compelling if the timing works. For families going home to Nigeria with multiple bags and full hold luggage, and that describes most diaspora Christmas travel, the total cost calculation is more nuanced. British Airways and Virgin include baggage in their standard fares. Air Peace’s ancillary costs can add up.

KLM via Amsterdam is underrated on this route. Schiphol works well as a transit airport, the service is reliable, and the fare savings over BA can be significant in shoulder season. If I am not on a time-sensitive trip, KLM is worth a serious look. The one thing all three carriers share: book early for anything in November and December.
